I came from a programming background, graduating in 1997 with a Computer Science degree and ended up in the online marketing arena in 2002 just after the bust. That is when I discovered the amazing ROI that can be obtained from SEO.
In the early days I worked with some of the well known SEO firms. They seemed to preach A,B,C SEO, which you could gain about 80-90% of just by reading the forums (Webmaster World and SEO Chat back in the day).
It started to seem like a good SEO consultant was great to have at your disposal, but the bottom line is that they would review your site, give suggestions and leave it up to you to actually do the work of coding it, writing the copy, and figuring out how to weave it in with your web design.
Looking at the space today it seems as if there is a gap. The engineers often have no clue about SEO and Marketing and the designers often use a tool to create their sexy page, but when you view the source it is a sight for soar eyes. Finally there is the marketer, the guy who jumps in head first and sees the huge opportunity and wants to learn how to make some money through SEO, but he is not a designer and he is not a programmer.
Well this little blog is a way for me to give back to community. There are so many great blogs giving out great information on the tactics we need to master to SEO, now we can get our hands dirty and show you how to actually do it.
